Going Live on Instagram & doing it scared.

“What’s the most uncomfortable thing you could do?” a coach recently said. I paused briefly before responding  “Going live on Instagram?”

“Excellent, well done. You’ve got 2 days before I start nudging you”.

Despite having been an actor, I found the idea of this quote terrifying and I put it off for 24hrs but did then manage to do it and here’s what I discovered…

1. Going live allows you to connect in a raw, ‘flaws and all’ way, I;ve realsied I’m fine with showing my audience that it’s okay to be vulnerable.

2. Going live is a powerful exercise in facing your fears. Whether it’s fear of judgment, fear of making mistakes, or fear of not being good enough, pressing that “Go Live” button took courage. By confronting these fears I pushed past my comfort zone, which is building resilience and confidence.

3. It enabled me to show me. I want my clients to know how relatable and approachable I am. I’d like to share more behind-the-scenes moments and my journey. I’ve got change on the horizon and it’s going to help build the community I’m hoping for.

4. Every day’s a school day & things went wrong - my phone mic wasn’t working, the wifi was dodgy, my dog barked lots, lippy had come off and my husband came home and interrupted. But I survived. Real life happens and that’s okay.

5. I was massively stretching my comfort zone and I might make it a regular practice.  I want authentic conversations in a community that I’m growing, where we support each other and where we focus on what is so important in life - being outside, in nature, not with our phones ironically, allowing ourselves time away from the screens. To sit and enjoy. And then celebrate it the best way we know how. 2024 will see lots of change and developments and I’m excited to have you along for the ride.
